Opal's Embrace is a non-profit charitable organization in the greater Kansas City area. We are committed to working alongside families to support the healthy growth and development of young children. We serve in memory of Opal Clark.

Supporting Development

Research tells us that the first five years of a young child's life has a high impact on his/her development. It is important for children to have the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe, secure, and stable environment. This environment will help them be successful in school and develop into productive citizens in our community. Opal's Embrace seeks to help and offer support to families with young children, encouraging optimal growth and development.

About Our Director

Marsha Wiard, raised in part by her grandmother, Opal Clark, founded Opal's Embrace to honor Opal and to continue her legacy of helping others. Marsha attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City and earned her BA in elementary education with an emphasis in early childhood and a master's degree in early childhood. She spent several years teaching kindergarten in the public school system across the Kansas City metropolitan area. After teaching for several years, Marsha owned and ran her own childcare program in Roeland Park, Kansas. It was during this time that she founded Opal’s Embrace with the sole aim and desire to help ease the burdens so many young families face.
